Pastoral Charge

The Clairmont United Church is a rural/small town church with the benefit of being only 5 minutes from Grande Prairie city limits (population over 50,000), which provides the option of either rural or city living.

We are a family oriented congregation with ages from preschool to over 80.

Because very few of our congregation are from the town of Clairmont, but from a wider rural and urban area, we must work at being a church community. We don't naturally see or work with each other in other community work, sports, or recreational events. Travel is involved for most to attend any church related functions, as well every child that attends Sunday School is driven to church.

Our Church has a unique lunch and fellowship every Sunday following church service, which members of the congregation take turns supplying. This allows us time to socialize and get to know each other. Occasionally the Sunday School classes are the ones serving this special soup or hotdogs.

We are Christians from all walks of life; families, singles, home based and career based with many having a farming background. Some have grown up in this area and are 2nd and 3rd generation families coming to the church.

Several Visionary workshops have been held to help us get to know each other and focus on the future. These focused on who we are as individuals, as a group and our role expectations and vision of the church.

Our board is made up of members of the congregation and Stewards, Session, Ministry and Personnel, Sunday School Superintendent, Presbytery Representative, Minister and Trustees. There are also several committees and many other jobs that are done by willing hands. Our small but decisive congregation is committed to making our church thrive, for people to enjoy today and for generations to come.
